Moaz Alaa Eldin, the first-choice goalkeeper for Zamalek’s senior team, has unveiled the behind-the-scenes story of his transition to the White Castle from Misr El-Maqassa.
Speaking on the Zamalek TV program, Moaz Alaa Eldin shared insights into his football journey, revealing that he initially began as a left-back before his coach urged him to switch to the goalkeeper position.
“I started my football career as a left-back, and then the coach asked me to switch to the goalkeeper position,” Moaz Alaa Eldin explained.
Initially resistant to the idea, he eventually embraced the shift after participating in goalkeeper training sessions and showcased commendable performances.
Moaz added, “Abdulwahed El Sayed is my role model in Egypt, and I hope to follow in his footsteps in my football career.”
Expressing gratitude for joining Zamalek, he highlighted that his arrival coincided with a freeze on registrations at the club three years ago.
This restriction prevented him from participating in official matches with the youth teams.
Recalling the past, Moaz stated that the club’s board rejected loan proposals during that time.
However, within just 10 days of joining the club, he was promoted to the first team, training alongside experienced goalkeepers that greatly contributed to his development.
Concluding his remarks, Moaz emphasized the significance of the current season for him with Zamalek.
He highlighted being included in both the local and African squads, marking a pivotal point in his career as a permanent member of the senior team.
