Saudi League CEO Omar Mugharbel confirms Mohamed Salah remains a top target
Omar Mugharbel, CEO of the Saudi Pro League, has addressed the ongoing speculation linking Liverpool star Mohamed Salah with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Reports have claimed the Egyptian is unhappy after being left on the bench and could be set to leave Anfield. Salah was left out of Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday, which only fueled the rumours.
Speaking at the World Football Summit in Riyadh, Mugharbel clarified the league’s position, explaining that negotiations with players are handled directly by the clubs, not by the league itself.
“Salah is welcome in the Saudi Professional League, without a doubt, he is a global star… but the clubs are responsible for negotiating with all players, not the league, and I believe that Salah is among the goals of the Roshan League clubs in the coming period,” he said
“Salah will certainly be a great addition to the Saudi league, but this matter is not within our jurisdiction.” he added.
Recent reports have suggested Liverpool could be open to selling Salah for a fee in the region of 65 million euros, keeping transfer talk very much alive.
