Villarreal will be without midfielder Pape Gueye for Saturday’s LaLiga clash against Getafe.

The Senegalese international faces suspension after accumulating his fifth yellow card of the season.

Gueye, 26, has been a key figure for Villarreal since joining from Sevilla, contributing both defensively and offensively.

He recently scored a penalty in Villarreal’s hard-fought Copa del Rey win over fourth-division side CA Antoniano, a match that ended 1-1 and saw Villarreal triumph 5-3 on penalties.

Despite this success, Gueye will miss his first league game of the season.

The absence of the former Marseille and Sevilla midfielder poses a challenge for Villarreal as they aim to secure a sixth consecutive LaLiga victory and strengthen their hold on third place.

Manager Unai Emery will need to adjust the midfield setup to maintain the team’s rhythm and attacking edge against Getafe at home.

Villarreal will welcome Gueye back to the squad on Wednesday for their Champions League fixture against Copenhagen, where the Senegalese midfielder is expected to resume his influential role.

Until then, Villarreal must rely on squad depth to continue their strong domestic campaign.
