Adem Zorgane delivers decisive assist as Union SG reach Belgian Cup quarters
Adem Zorgane continued his excellent form for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise by providing a brilliant assist that sent his team into the Belgian Cup quarterfinals.
Union hosted Zulte Waregem in Brussels and were shocked early when the visitors took the lead after 14 minutes, then defended the advantage deep into the second half.
The league leaders finally broke through in the 73rd minute thanks to Kevin Rodriguez, who levelled the score and reignited the home crowd. Union kept pushing, and their pressure was rewarded in the 82nd minute when Promise David struck the winner after a superb defence-splitting pass from Zorgane, hit from the centre circle into space behind the backline.
The 2-1 comeback win sends Union into the last eight, where they will face the winner of the tie between Mechelen and Charleroi, the club of Guitoun and Titraoui.
Algerian fans and local media hailed Zorgane’s vision and influence once again, with clips of his assist widely shared on social media as evidence of his growing maturity in European football.
