The news buzz of the day involves Martin Montoya, the young right-back from Barcelona, who was accused of theft by a Madrid taxi driver. However, Montoya denies the accusations. The incident reportedly took place on October 17 after a match between the Spanish U21 national team and their Danish counterparts.
According to the taxi driver, Miguel Collado, he picked up four people at the Tryp Alameda hotel and later realized that his wallet, which was in the front seat, was missing after they got out of the car. Collado claimed that he went back to the hotel, learned that the person in the front seat was Martin Montoya, and later received a threatening call from someone claiming to be Montoya’s agent.
Montoya, backed by his club and the three people who were with him (Deulofeu, Tello, and the team doctor Jorge Guillen), strongly denied the accusations. In a statement, he said, “The accusations concerning the theft of a taxi driver’s wallet are completely false.” The situation appears to have led to a formal complaint from the taxi driver.
