Philadelphia Union secure record signing with arrival of Ghanaian forward Ezekiel Alladoh

Philadelphia Union have confirmed the acquisition of Ghanaian striker Ezekiel Alladoh, completing a landmark deal that makes the 20-year-old the most expensive signing in the club’s history.

The agreement, announced on Wednesday, sees the forward join from Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna on a contract running until 2028, with club options for an additional two years.

Alladoh arrives in Major League Soccer after an impressive breakthrough season in Sweden, where he featured in 32 matches across all competitions.

His campaign included eight goals and one assist, with a standout moment on 21 September when he struck the decisive goal in an away victory over IFK Göteborg.

Before making the move to Europe, Alladoh built his reputation in Ghana’s Premier League with Accra Lions.

After signing from Atlantic Sports Academy in 2024, he delivered three goals and one assist in 14 matches.

He made his professional debut on 8 September 2024 against Medeama SC and netted his first league goal just two weeks later, scoring late on against Karela United FC.

Philadelphia Union head coach Bradley Carnell expressed confidence in the young striker’s potential, praising both his physical attributes and his style of play.

Ezekiel is a talented young center-forward who has shown encouraging potential in a competitive European league, Carnell said. His speed, direct play, and runs in behind provide a solid foundation, and at 6’3, he brings power and an undeniable presence to the position. His intensity and high-level mentality fit perfectly into our system, and we are delighted to welcome him to Philadelphia as he continues to develop his game.

Alladoh’s registration will be finalised once he receives his International Transfer Certificate and P1 visa, after which he will occupy an international roster slot.

His arrival is expected to strengthen Philadelphia Union’s attacking options as they continue their preparations for the upcoming MLS campaign.

The signing marks another significant step in the club’s strategy of investing in young, high-upside talent, with Alladoh now poised to take the next major stride in his professional development on American soil.
