Thanks to a narrow 1-0 victory in Maputo, Egypt has qualified for the final round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. The Pharaohs are currently supporting Ivory Coast, which has also validated its ticket after its 4-4 draw against Tanzania.
It was Mohamed Salah who scored the only goal of the match against Mozambique. This is the first time in history that a North African team has beaten Mozambique in Maputo.
Egypt is also undefeated since the start of these qualifications (5 victories in as many matches). It has 15 points ahead of Guinea (7 points) which faces Zimbabwe this Sunday in Conakry.
