Franco-Congolese defender Alex Disasi keen about Chelsea exit as winter window approaches
France international of DR Congo descent Axel Disasi plans to depart Chelsea in the upcoming winter transfer window amid recent struggles.
The 27-year-old defender was initially axed from the Blues first team squad after failing to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
Despite being reinstated in the first team, Disasi, a former Monaco defender has decided to leave Chelsea in attempt to seek for regular playing time elsewhere.
The former Monaco central defender returned to training with the Blues’ senior squad in mid-November. In a bid to build up fitness, the 27-year-old also featured for Chelsea’s U21s in a match against Reading in the EFL Trophy.
Spending the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, the Frenchman has not made a senior appearance for the West London outfit since a 3-1 win against Wolves in January.
Disasi failed to secure a move in the summer, but he wasn’t short of suitors. Several clubs expressed an interest in Disasi’s services, including Monaco, West Ham, and Saudi club Neom.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether any of the clubs will re-attempt to sign the defender during the winter window.
The Frenchman joined the London club in August 2023 from French Ligue 1 giants Monaco after top display at the club.
Since joining Chelsea, the defender has racked up 61 appearances, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
