Napoli target signing English-Ghanaian midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in January from Manchester United

Serie A champions Napoli are targeting English-Ghanaian midfielder Kobbie Mainoo to bolster their midfield ahead of the January transfer window.

Napoli are struggling with injuries in central areas, with Kevin De Bruyne, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, and Billy Gilmour sidelined for several months.

Manager Antonio Conte has openly acknowledged the team’s midfield difficulties, prompting the club to seek reinforcements.

The Partenopei’s interest in the 20-year-old Manchester United academy graduate is not new. Earlier reports suggested Napoli had been monitoring Mainoo over the summer, but United were determined to keep hold of their rising talent.

Recent developments, however, indicate a shift, with Napoli submitting a fresh enquiry in recent days. Mainoo remains a top priority on their list for January.

So far this season, Mainoo has featured in just eight matches for Manchester United.
