Belgium’s Gaëtan Hendrickx hails Nigeria star Victor Osimhen as the most complete striker
Belgian international Gaëtan Hendrickx has eulogized Nigeria international Victor Osimhen as the most complete striker he has ever played with, praising his rare blend of power, speed and technique.
Hendrickx, who featured alongside Osimhen during their time at Charleroi, said the Super Eagles forward showed signs of becoming a global star very early in his career.
Osimhen has enjoyed a remarkable career so far, firing Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33-years, while clinching the topscorer award.
The enterprising attacker’s impressive loan spell at Galatasaray last term earned him a permanent move to the club in the summer window. He delivered top-class performance, helping Galatasaray to annex the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Cup last season, while finishing as top scorer.
Reflecting on Osimhen’s qualities, Hendrickx told RTBF: “I have rarely seen such a complete striker… Victor had everything: power, speed, depth, technique, stamina, jumping ability, and heading. Everything!”
He also recalled how their former manager, Felice Mazzu, predicted the Nigerian forward’s rise. “Take a good look at this one, because one day he’ll play for the biggest clubs in the world!” Mazzu had said. Hendrickx admitted he “chuckled a bit… and we saw what happened next.”
He added that Osimhen’s athleticism and instinctive technique made him capable of “doing crazy things,” often controlling passes that seemed impossible to bring down.
