AC Milan interested in signing Franco-Congolese striker Jean-Philippe Mateta
Italian giants AC Milan have expressed firm interest in France international of DR Congo descent Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The 28-year-old attacker, who joined Crystal Palace in 2022 has attracted significant interest following his outstanding performance. Since joining the Eagles, the forward has established himself as a key member of the club.
Aside AC Milan, the enterprising attacker is a top transfer target for several European clubs, with his current contract expiring in 18 months’ time.
However, the Italian giants, who keen on signing the attacker has initiated contact, with the club viewing him as a classic number nine to spearhead Massimiliano Allegri’s attack.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are said to be ready to cash in on the forward for a transfer fee in the region of £35–40 million. The striker himself dreams of testing his skills in Serie A before the end of his career, making a winter transfer very much on the cards.
The Frenchman’s contract with the English club expires in 18 months. This season, he has made twenty appearances for the London side, scoring eight goals and providing one assist.
Mateta joined Palace in 2022 for €11 million from German side Mainz. The Frenchman has made 171 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 54 goals and providing 12 assists.
