Manchester City and Chelsea set to battle for German-Burkinabe striker Assan Ouédraogo

Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea are preparing to go head-to-head in the race to sign Germany international of Burkina Faso descent Assan Ouédraogo.

The 19-year-old striker has caught the attention of both clubs with his standout performance in the current season for German club RB Leipzig, netting 3 goals and providing 4 assists.

Ouédraogo’s electric and productive performances have not gone unnoticed by Pep Guardiola and Enzo Maresca, who are eager to lure the teenage sensation next summer.

The fast-rising attacker’s current contract with Leipzig runs until 2029, without a release clause, making his acquisition a tough one.

Meanwhile, Ouédraogo is said not to be considering a move during the winter transfer window, as he is focused on making Germany’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Ouédraogo joined Leipzig from Schalke in 2024 for €10 million and has since been outstanding for the club.

The 19-year-old attacker has already made his debut for the Germany national team. He made his first appearance in the November international break, scoring one goal in the process.
