Senegalese forward Chérif Ndiaye strike earns Samsunspor a valuable point in Istanbul

Chérif Ndiaye once again proved decisive for Samsunspor, scoring the equaliser in a 1–1 draw away to Beşiktaş in the Süper Lig.

The Senegalese forward, who had found the net for his country during the international break, carried that form back to club level with another important finish on Sunday.

Ndiaye, 29, arrived in Istanbul fresh from contributing Senegal’s eighth goal in their emphatic 8–0 win over Kenya on 18 November.

His confidence showed. Against Beşiktaş, he reacted sharply to punish a costly mistake from Cengiz Ünder — who had earlier put the hosts ahead — and brought Samsunspor level with a composed strike.

The goal marked his seventh of the season, underlining his growing influence in the Turkish top flight.

Beşiktaş had taken the lead through Ünder, but their advantage proved short-lived as Ndiaye seized on the winger’s defensive misjudgement.

The momentum shifted after the equaliser, with Samsunspor showing greater control and purpose in midfield, creating several openings and repeatedly unsettling the Beşiktaş back line.

Despite their positive response, Samsunspor were unable to turn their improved second-half display into a winning goal.

They carved out chances and often looked the sharper of the two sides, but the decisive moment eluded them.

Even so, the draw was enough to move them back into fourth place, capping a disciplined and largely mature performance away from home.

For Ndiaye, the match added further proof of his consistency this season.

His movement, pressing, and presence in the penalty area caused regular problems for the Beşiktaş defence, illustrating why he has quickly become one of Samsunspor’s most reliable attacking options.

The forward’s ability to carry his international form into domestic competition also reinforces the sense that he is entering one of the most productive spells of his career.

Beşiktaş, meanwhile, struggled for rhythm after their bright start.

Though they created chances of their own, they were increasingly forced onto the back foot as Samsunspor grew in confidence.

The hosts will be frustrated not to have built on Ünder’s opening goal, especially given their need to regain stability amid a challenging run of results.

Samsunspor’s point in Istanbul may yet prove important in the weeks ahead.

With the race for European places tightening, performances such as this — resilient, organised, and driven by moments of individual quality — will be essential.

And in Ndiaye, they have a striker capable of delivering precisely when it matters.
