Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare has reflected on Wolverhampton Wanderers defeat to Crystal Palace in the English Premier League, insisting the side showcased fighting spirit despite falling short to their opponent.

Arokodare started and played for 66 minutes as his outfit succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to the Eagles on Saturday in a highly-tensed Premier League clash. The Super Eagles had to be replaced by Hwang Hee-Chan as the club needed some bite in attack.

Speaking after the game, Arokodare affirmed the side worked tirelessly despite succumbing to a defeat.

“We showed a lot of energy, a lot of fighting spirit, and that’s what we focused on from the start of the week. The trainings were very intensive, and we had good spirits, and we came to this game with good spirits.”

Arokodare also expressed that Palace’s opening goal came down to misfortune rather than defensive errors.

“I don’t think it really went wrong anywhere until the goal. You cannot say it was bad defending or anything, we were just unlucky with the deflection. But luckily for them, they had a player to put it in the back of the net.”

Despite going two goals down, he felt Wolves maintained their style and continued to push for a response.

“But I thought we did pretty good the whole game, from the start to the end. Even after going two goals down, we still tried to play our football, but we didn’t get the result.”

The 25-year-old Nigerian attacker, who joined Wolves in the summer has yet to score or register any assist in eight appearances.
