Wayne Rooney ranks Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo among top EPL stars this season
Former England star Wayne Rooney has placed Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo and Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo among his top three English Premier League players of the season, leaving out Manchester City’s prolific scorer Erling Haaland.
Speaking to Amazon Prime Sport, Rooney highlighted Semenyo’s impressive rise at AFC Bournemouth, praising the forward for maintaining the same explosive form he showed last campaign.
“I think Antoine Semenyo has been great for Bournemouth, carrying on form from last season,” Rooney said.
The Manchester United legend also included Bryan Mbeumo and Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres to complete his top-three list.
“I also think I’d put Bryan Mbeumo in there. I think he’s been really good for Man United, even after a difficult start. I think he’s been really good.
“Third I’d probably go Viktor Gyokeres. Arsenal have been crying out for a No.9 for a few years, and he’s come in, his determination, work rate, hold-up play, the goals,” Rooney added.
Semenyo, 25, has been one of Bournemouth’s standout performers this season, scoring six goals and delivering three assists in just 11 Premier League outings. His consistency has reportedly caught the attention of defending champions Liverpool, who are monitoring his development closely.
Mbeumo, on the other hand, has five goals and one assist after 11 appearances for Manchester United in the English Premier League.
