Nigeria star Victor Osimhen set for MRI scan after injury setback in World Cup playoff
Nigeria international Victor Osimhen will undergo MRI scan to assess the severity of the injury sustained during the World Cup playoff clash against DR Congo.
Osimhen, who plies his trade for Galatasaray succumbed to injury in the first half at the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium, as the Super Eagles fell short to DR Congo in the African playoff final.
The former Napoli forward had to be replaced at halftime, with Sevilla star Akor Adams replacing him.
Osimhen will travel to Turkey on Sunday to Galatasaray, where the forward will undergo an immediate MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury.
The Turkish powerhouse are eagerly awaiting Osimhen’s return, with his presence set to be crucial for their upcoming matches, including their Champions League clash against Union Saint-Gilloise on November 25.
The striker had been instrumental in Galatasaray’s success, scoring 37 goals in 41 appearances last season and helping the team win the Turkish Super Lig title.
Osimhen has been impressive this season, scoring 9 goals in 11 games across all competitions for Galatasaray. In the Super Lig, the forward has netted 3 goals in 8 matches.
He has also had a strong Champions League campaign, scoring 6 goals in 3 appearances, including a hat-trick.
