Karim Adeyemi hit with huge fine over illegal weapons case
Karim Adeyemi is facing a major controversy that has cast a shadow over his young career.
According to Bild, the Borussia Dortmund forward has been handed a penalty order totaling €450,000, after being found in possession of illegal weapons.
German authorities say Adeyemi had a knuckle-duster and a Taser at his disposal, items forbidden under the country’s Weapons Act. As a result, the 23-year-old will have to pay the hefty fine, calculated as 60 daily rates of €7,500 each. While an entry will be made in the Federal Central Criminal Register, Adeyemi won’t be considered to have a criminal record, and a public trial has been avoided.
The public prosecutor confirmed the investigation, which has lasted more than a year, started around the time of the Euro 2024 tournament, when Adeyemi wasn’t with the German squad and was instead vacationing in Greece. Adeyemi’s lawyer explained that the weapons came from a “Mystery Box” ordered via TikTok, but declined to offer further details.
The penalty marks a dramatic turn in the footballer’s journey, serving as a reminder of the risks that young athletes face off the pitch.
