Nigeria to face D.R. Congo in final of African Playoffs for 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday

D.R Congo have booked their place in the final of the 2026 World Cup African Playoffs after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Cameroon.

The decisive semi-final on Friday, held at Al Barid Stadium in Rabat, saw captain Chancel Mbemba score the only goal of the match very late in the second half, sending the Congolese side through.

They will now face Nigeria, who overcame Gabon 4-1 after extra time in their semi-final, in what promises to be a thrilling contest between two of Africa’s top footballing nations.

In that game, a brace from danger man Victor Osimhen plus goals from Chidera Ejuke and Akor Adams powered the Super Eagles to victory.

The final is set for Sunday, November 16, at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 8 pm local time (19:00 GMT).

The winner will move one step closer to securing a spot in the intercontinental playoff for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With so much at stake, both national teams will be eager to win the final to keep hopes of playing at next year’s World Cup alive.
