Nigeria’s Falconets thump Ghana 3-0 to win 2025 WAFU B U20 Girls Cup

The Falconets of Nigeria have won the 2025 WAFU B U20 Girls Cup after thumping Ghana’s Black Princesses 3-0 in the final.

On the matchday, Janet Akekoromowei and Ramotalahi Kareem were once again on the scoresheet as the Falconets outclassed their Ghanaian rivals at the Stade Omnisport d’Adjohoun.

The two-time FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup silver medallists took control early in the game, racing to a 2-0 lead before the 25th minute thanks to goals from Akekoromowei in the 17th minute and Alaba Olabiyi in the 24th.

Akekoromowei had earlier scored twice when both teams met on Saturday, a match that ended 3-1 in favour of Nigeria, while Kareem grabbed a brace in their 3-0 win over host nation Benin on Sunday.

The victory lifted Nigeria to nine points and a +8 goal difference, having scored three goals in each of their three matches to clinch the trophy in the three-team tournament.

Ghana finished second with six points after recording wins against Benin.

The Falconets are expected to face the host nation again on Wednesday morning at the same venue, but the encounter will be largely ceremonial as Nigeria have already sealed the title.
