Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 kicks off with the opening match between Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau on Saturday, January 13, seasoned Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac, an unfortunate finalist with Ghana in the 2010 AFCON, shares insights on the potential favorites of the competition.
In an exclusive interview with Egyptian media, Rajevac expressed his keen interest in the tournament, acknowledging the formidable strength of various teams.
“I will closely follow the next tournament because I like African football, and it is not easy to choose the candidates, as there are many great teams,” the experienced coach remarked.
Rajevac highlighted the traditional football powerhouses from North Africa, stating, “Of course, North African countries like Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia are still among the candidates.” However, he emphasized the broader spectrum of competitive teams vying for glory in AFCON 2023.

“There is also Ivory Coast, the host country, Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal. Cameroon boasts a good team, alongside Mali and Burkina Faso, who have shown remarkable improvement and possess the potential to make a significant impact in the tournament,” Rajevac added.
