French side Angers desperate to extend the contract of Algerian forward Himad Abdelli
French Ligue 1 side Angers SCO are making every effort to extend the contract of Algerian international Himad Abdelli, whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.
According to L’Équipe, the club is determined to keep hold of the 25-year-old playmaker, who played a key role in their successful fight to remain in the top flight last season.
Despite struggling with injuries at the start of the current campaign, Abdelli remains central to Angers’ plans.
In a bid to convince him to stay, the club reportedly offered a new contract that included a pay rise, which would make Abdelli the highest-earning player at Angers.
However, the Algerian has yet to accept the proposal, opting instead to take time to consider potential options elsewhere.
With his deal running down, Abdelli will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with other clubs from January.
Reports suggest he is prioritising the sporting project of any new offer over financial considerations.
