Al Ahly overcomes Ceramica surprises to book Egyptian Super Cup final
Al Ahly powered into the Egyptian Super Cup final after securing a commanding 3-1 win over Ceramica Cleopatra on Thursday at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, UAE.
The victory sends the Red Devils to Sunday’s final, where they will face the winner between Zamalek and Pyramids.
Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a fine header from a Zizo cross. Ceramica fought back, and Marwan Osman equalized in the 41st minute following a slick move through the middle. The tension grew in the second half before Slovenian forward Nejr Gradiscar restored Al Ahly’s lead in the 52nd minute after a well-worked team play.
The match remained competitive, but Al Ahly’s experience shone through in key moments, keeping Ceramica at bay despite their late surge. Referee Mahmoud El Banna oversaw a spirited contest that saw both sides create chances but lacked sharp finishing.
Coach Jess Torup’s men showed composure and tactical control, qualities that ultimately earned them the right to chase another piece of silverware in the season’s early showdown.
