Karim Adeyemi impresses despite no goal against Manchester City
After Borussia Dortmund’s 1-4 defeat by Manchester City, Karim Adeyemi was among the team’s most dynamic players, although he wasn’t able to score.
The 23-year-old striker threatened the City goal several times but missed good chances. Coach Niko Kovac discussed Adeyemi’s performance afterwards.
“Offensively, he really did well. But he needs to start rewarding himself, because he had two or three great opportunities that Foden finished on the other side. I wish Karim managed that too, but he didn’t,” Kovac said at the press conference.
“Defensively, he was much better in the second half than in the first. So overall, I was happy with his performance. But of course, as a striker, you want to score goals. I think he will get back to that in the coming games.”
Kovac made four substitutions in the 67th minute to rest players after the team fell far behind. He praised the substitutes for bringing renewed energy to the match. Despite the defeat, the coach saw positives, especially in Adeyemi’s stronger second-half effort, believing the attacker is on the right track.
