Semenyo’s solo stunner earns Premier League Goal of the Month nomination alongside Salah’s masterpiece
Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah have been shortlisted for the Premier League Goal of the Month award for October following their stunning strikes.
Semenyo’s nomination comes after his exceptional solo effort in Bournemouth’s 3-1 comeback victory over Fulham at the Vitality Stadium on October 3.
Salah earned his place with a technically brilliant finish in Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on October 25.
The Ghanaian international produced one of the standout moments of the month when he weaved past Fulham defender Timothy Castagne near the byline before slotting the ball past Bernd Leno from a tight angle.
His goal levelled the score before he set up Justin Kluivert for Bournemouth’s second and later sealed the win with a stoppage-time strike.
Semenyo’s performance underlined his growing influence for the Cherries.
The 25-year-old has now registered six goals and three assists in ten league appearances, marking his best start to a Premier League season.
Salah’s nomination highlights his consistency at the highest level.
The Egyptian forward reduced Liverpool’s deficit in stoppage time against Brentford, controlling Dominik Szoboszlai’s cross with precision before rifling a half-volley into the top corner.
Despite the defeat, his effort was widely praised for its skill and execution.
The 33-year-old, who was named PFA Players’ Player of the Year last season, has contributed four goals and two assists in ten league matches this campaign.
Semenyo’s Bournemouth teammate Justin Kluivert also made the shortlist for his strike in the same match, while the remaining nominees include Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, Burnley duo Loum Tchaouna and Zian Flemming, Newcastle United’s Nick Woltemade, and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendia.
The Premier League Goal of the Month winner will be determined by a combination of public votes and expert panel deliberation, with results expected to be announced next week.
