Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Peterson eyes a place in Bafana Bafana squad ahead of AFCON 2025

Interim manager of Kaizer Chiefs Ben Youssef says the ultimate target of goalkeeper Brandon Peterson, is to make the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Morocco.

The much-anticipated tournament has been scheduled to take place in the North African country between December 2025 and January 2026.

Peterson has been less erratic for Kaizer Chiefs in the current campaign, keeping nine clean sheet out of 14 matches in all competitions.

As the Bafana Bafana gears up for the continental showpiece, Ben Youssef has hinted Peterson’s desire to earn a place in Hugo Broos squad for the tournament.

“Congratulations to Petersen, congratulations to the goalkeeper coach for a good job he’s doing with him,” Ben Youssef said.

“The target of Petersen is to go back to Bafana Bafana, to be part of the national team. He’s targeting that, and we are following him.

“I think he needs to continue to work to put pressure on the coach of the national team. Why not be part of the squad in AFCON?”
