Barcelona step up interest in Cameroonian striker Karl Etta Eyong

La Liga champions FC Barcelona are interested in signing Cameroonian striker Karl Etta Eyong next summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 22-year-old is eager to seal a switch to a top European club as early as January, though FIFA regulations could complicate that timeline.

Having already represented both Villarreal and Levante this season, Eyong cannot complete a permanent move in the January window but could remain on loan with Levante until the end of the campaign.

Eyong’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City all reportedly monitoring his progress.

The striker has been in fine form, scoring six goals and providing three assists so far this season.

Barcelona hold a slight edge in the race, as Eyong is said to be a lifelong fan of the Catalan club. His release clause is set at €30 million for La Liga teams, though Premier League sides would need to trigger a €40 million clause.

With Lewandowski’s contract expiring at the end of the season, Barcelona view Eyong as a potential heir to the Polish forward’s role at the heart of their attack.
