Barcelona expected to miss out on Victor Osimhen’s signing due to financial constraints
Barcelona’s pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen appears increasingly unlikely, with financial constraints set to derail any potential move for the prolific Nigerian forward.
The Catalan giants are reportedly seeking a long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski and have placed Osimhen high on their list of attacking targets for next summer. However, Galatasaray’s asking price and Barça’s ongoing financial troubles make the deal a challenging one to pull off.
Osimhen has been in scintillating form in the Turkish Süper Lig, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists last season. He has continued his fine run this term, netting six times in nine matches, including a brace against Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League.
Galatasaray paid Napoli €75 million to secure Osimhen’s services permanently last summer, and they are expected to demand an even higher fee should Barcelona come knocking.
Given the club’s financial situation, Barcelona may be forced to turn their attention to more affordable options. Among the names being considered are Levante’s Karl Etta Eyong, Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, and Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Asllani.
