Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club have confirmed that new signing Hakim Ziyech will wear the number 7 jersey following his return to domestic football.

The former Chelsea and Ajax playmaker recently joined Wydad after parting ways with Qatari side Al-Duhail, marking a highly anticipated homecoming for the Moroccan international.

Ziyech made his first public appearance during the goalless Casablanca derby last weekend, and the club’s official store has already released the new white Wydad jersey bearing his name and number.

The shirt, priced at $60, has quickly become a fan favorite.

The No. 7 shirt carries deep significance in Wydad’s history, having been worn by club legends such as Fakhreddine Rajhi, Mohamed Ounajem, and Bakary Koné.

According to reports, Ziyech will be officially presented to supporters on Sunday, November 2, at the Mohammed V Stadium before Wydad’s home fixture against Ittihad Tanger.

Club president Hicham Aït Menna has stated that the 31-year-old will not feature in the Moroccan Botola Pro League until January 2026, as he works on regaining full fitness and integrating with the squad.

However, efforts are underway to register him for CAF competitions, potentially paving the way for an earlier debut on the continental stage.

Ziyech signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with Wydad last week. His illustrious career has seen him represent Heerenveen, Twente, Ajax, Chelsea, Galatasaray, and Al-Duhail, and now, he is set to bring his European pedigree back to Moroccan football.
