Chelsea are set to hold decisive talks in January 2026 to determine the future of English-born Nigerian forward Tyrique George as the club weighs whether to keep him at Stamford Bridge or send him out for more regular playing time.

According to the Daily Mail, the 19-year-old was on the verge of a £22 million move to Fulham last summer before the deal collapsed at the last minute when the Cottagers pulled out.

In a bid to reassure the highly rated youngster, Chelsea chief scout Joe Shields personally contacted George to confirm he remains central to the club’s long-term plans.

Since then, George has taken his opportunities well, scoring in both the UEFA Champions League and the Carabao Cup, while also making four Premier League appearances from the bench. He capped his impressive rise by netting his first goal for the England U21 side earlier this month.

However, the situation could change with Liam Delap returning from injury. Head coach Enzo Maresca has predominantly used George as a striker this season, and the increased competition could limit his minutes in the second half of the campaign.

While Chelsea are not actively pushing him to leave, the club is open to a loan or potential move if it guarantees the teenager consistent playing time crucial for his development.
