Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has dismissed suggestions of a fallout with Vinicius Junior following the Brazilian’s animated reaction to being substituted during Sunday’s El Clasico victory over Barcelona.

Vinicius, who has Cameroonian roots, impressed for Los Blancos in their 2–1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu but appeared frustrated when withdrawn late in the match.

Alonso, however, downplayed any tension, insisting the focus should remain on the team’s performance and result.

“I don’t want to lose focus on what is really important here… Vini brought a lot, like the other players,” Alonso said.

“It’s an important win and it could even have been bigger.”

Real Madrid extended their lead over Barcelona to five points at the top of La Liga, with Jude Bellingham once again proving decisive.

The English midfielder scored Madrid’s second goal after setting up Kylian Mbappé for the opener, continuing his fine return to form following shoulder surgery.

“We saw it against Juventus and today — three very good games in a week,” Alonso noted. “He needed minutes to get in gear, but now he’s flying.”

Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez levelled in the first half, but Madrid’s relentless pressure eventually paid off as Bellingham struck the winner.

Los Blancos also had three goals ruled out for offside but dominated much of the game, earning Alonso his first Clasico triumph as manager.

Alonso said the team entered the match “very motivated,” noting that the players were determined to make a statement after four consecutive defeats to Barcelona last season.

“They needed this feeling of being able to win a big game, like Clasicos are,” he added.

Madrid next face Valencia in La Liga as they look to maintain momentum at the summit.
