UCL: English-Ghanaian attacker Tyrique George on target as Chelsea hammer Ajax 5-1
English-born forward of Ghanaian and Nigerian descent, Tyrique George, came off the bench to score Chelsea’s final goal in a commanding 5-1 victory over Ajax in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.
Ajax were reduced to 10 men just 17 minutes into the match when Kenneth Taylor was shown a red card for a reckless challenge. Chelsea immediately capitalised on the advantage, with Marc Guiu finding the back of the net a minute later after being set up by Wesley Fofana to give the Blues the lead.
Chelsea took full control from that moment and showcased their dominance with a flurry of goals.
Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernández, and Estêvão all scored to put the hosts 4-1 ahead by halftime. Ajax’s only goal of the night came in the 33rd minute when experienced forward Wout Weghorst converted from the penalty spot.
Tyrique George, who replaced Marc Guiu at halftime, sealed the result just three minutes into the second half. The young forward unleashed a stunning strike from the edge of the box, leaving the Ajax goalkeeper with no chance and wrapping up a superb performance for Chelsea.
The win further solidifies Chelsea’s strong start in the competition as Enzo Maresca’s side aim to clinch another Champions League trophy this season.
