‘Salah’s offering Liverpool nothing’ – Heskey slams Reds’ form, says squad misses Trent

Former England international Emile Heskey has expressed concern over Liverpool’s dip in form, warning that Mohamed Salah’s lack of impact and the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold are severely hurting the team’s title ambitions.

The Egyptian forward, who scored 29 goals in 38 league matches last season, has gone six Premier League games without finding the net.

Heskey, a former Liverpool striker himself, believes Salah’s poor form highlights a wider issue within the squad’s balance and mentality.

“Salah is a worry because there is such a dramatic difference to what we’re used to with him,” Heskey told Liverpool.com via BetBrain.

“Even last season, I don’t think he particularly played well. He scored a lot of goals but I don’t think he played well. At this moment in time, when he isn’t scoring, what is he giving you? That’s the problem.”

The ex-striker also admitted that the absence of Alexander-Arnold has left a creative void in the side.

“The whole squad is missing Trent Alexander-Arnold. You have got to look at what he brought and his ability to create a chance as well. When it comes to that, yes they’re missing him — but you can’t rely on one player to bring a performance out of you.”

Liverpool’s recent 2-1 defeat to Manchester United marked their fourth consecutive loss, leaving their Premier League title hopes hanging by a thread.

Heskey, however, maintains that the Reds are still mathematically in the race but must rediscover their defensive solidity and attacking identity quickly.

“Liverpool are still in the Premier League title conversation, but they have thrown away an opportunity to really stake a claim that they are the ones,” he added. “When the pressure is on, who can hold their nerve? That will decide the title.”
