French forward Kylian Mbappe says his new life in Spain has brought a sense of calm and balance, describing his experience at Real Madrid as ‘very chill’.

Mbappe, who was born in France to a Cameroonian father and Algerian mother, is thriving both on and off the pitch in his second season at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The 26-year-old has quickly adapted to Spanish culture and continues to shine as Madrid’s talisman.

“Here, they make paella very well!” Mbappe told Brut. “People will think it’s a cliché, but it’s really good.

“The people are welcoming, nice, respectful — they let life come to them. They are very chill. It’s a pleasure to be here every day and to have a new life experience.”

He contrasted the slower pace of Madrid with his years in the French capital.

“Here, I’m less in a rush. Paris is a city that has no time for anyone. You have to move at its rhythm. Here, you can take your time to do and appreciate things,” he said.

Mbappe’s relaxed outlook is reflected in his performances. His 10th goal in nine league matches earned Real Madrid a 1-0 victory over Getafe on Sunday, returning them to the top of La Liga.

The Frenchman struck three minutes after Getafe’s Allan Nyom was sent off, showing his trademark sharpness and composure.

Real boss Xabi Alonso hailed his impact after the match. “We’re very happy with Kylian Mbappe.

“Goals win games, but there’s a lot of hard work behind it,” Alonso noted, dismissing suggestions that Madrid rely solely on their star forward.

With El Clásico against Barcelona looming, Mbappe’s seamless integration into both Spanish life and Real Madrid’s system signals a player at peace — and at the peak of his powers.
