English-born Ghanaian forward Charles Sagoe Jr rejects call up for Liberia duty
Arsenal youngster Charles Sagoe Jr turned down an invite from Liberia for the October international break.
The 21-year-old was handed a call up for Liberia’s final round of the qualifiers against Namibia and Equatorial Guinea.
However, the attacker rejected the invite, infirming the Liberia Football Association to give him time before making a decision about his international future.
Sagoe Jr qualifies for Liberia through his mother, but is also able to represent Ghana who continue to monitor his progress and his potential international allegiance.
The 21-year-old was appreciative of the offer from Liberia but is reluctant to commit just yet, as he is aware whatever decision he takes is a big one for him and his family.
Sagoe Jr has had a strong start to the season with the U21s, scoring three times and setting up three more goals in his first seven games.
The forward has been tipped to attain greater heights of his career, considering his qualifiers an attacker.
Following a brilliant start to the current season, Sagoe Jnr will be hoping maintain his form throughout the campaign.
