2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Otto Addo urges focus as Black Stars prepare for Central African Republic showdown
Ghana head coach Otto Addo has warned his players to guard against complacency as they gear up for their penultimate 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic in midweek.
The Black Stars sit atop Group I with 19 points, ahead of crucial fixtures against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
Coach Otto Addo, speaking during his pre-match press conference, emphasised the need for teamwork and mental discipline to avoid costly mistakes.
“At the end, we have worked together because it’s a team sport. Individuals can make a change, but the most important thing is to work together, play to our strengths, and know how to respond when things go wrong,” he said.
“Everything is in our hands, but I hope we learnt from the last away game against Chad. It is important that we stay focused and concentrated, and not think we have already won because that is a danger,” Addo cautioned.
The decisive clash will take place on Wednesday, October 8, in Morocco, before Ghana returns home to host Comoros in their final qualifier on October 12.
