Yannick Ferreira blames circumstances as Zamalek legend calls for his exit
Under growing pressure, Zamalek coach Yannick Ferreira couldn’t hide his frustration after his side’s 1-1 draw with Ghazl El Mahalla.
Ferreira stated in the post-match press conference, “All the players performed well and we controlled the match, but we drew because of two mistakes. It’s very frustrating.”
He added, “The biggest disappointment is that we’re dropping points the opponent didn’t deserve. This has been happening for the second game in a row. We need patience to return to winning ways.”
Ferreira defended his tactical decisions, mentioning, “I made three substitutions at once for players playing together for the first time, and they gave a great effort.” Yet, he lamented wasted chances and repetitive defensive errors, saying, “Every match has its scenario, but the similarity is that we score first then concede due to various reasons.”
However, club legend Hazem Emam voiced harsh criticism on TV, declaring, “He must leave.” He argued Zamalek can’t “keep enduring repeated mistakes,” emphasizing that under current management, the team lacks the fighting edge needed to reclaim its stature.
