Injured Axel Tape ruled out of action for four weeks
Bayer Leverkusen teenager Axel Tape is set to spend up to four weeks on the sidelines due to an injury setback.
The 18-year-old defender suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh in the 1-1 draw, the club confirmed. He is expected to be sidelined until November.
Tape, who joined Leverkusen from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer, had begun to establish himself on the right side of defense with a string of promising performances.
His setback is therefore a blow to both the player and the team as they continue their domestic and European campaigns.
Leverkusen will now be forced to reshuffle their defensive options while hoping the youngster makes a full recovery and returns stronger later in the season.
This weekend, Bayer Leverkusen will take on Union Berlin on Saturday, October. Tape will miss not just that match but several other games after the international break.
The Tape, a quick return from injury, is key to continuing to work on his development.
