In a momentous arrival marked by anticipation and camaraderie, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, led by the esteemed President of FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o, have landed in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, as they brace themselves for the highly awaited AFCON 2023.
The Cameroonian delegation’s private plane touched down on the Yamoussoukro airport tarmac at precisely 9:30 a.m. local time this Wednesday morning.
With dignified composure, Samuel Eto’o fils, the President of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), disembarked first, symbolically setting foot on Ivorian soil.
Following suit were the revered Rigobert Song, the legendary Patrick Mboma, and the captain extraordinaire, Vincent Aboubakar, alongside the remainder of the delegation.
A cordial reception unfolded at the foot of the plane, with the city authorities of Yamoussoukro, members of COCAN, and Cameroonian diplomatic representatives extending a warm welcome to the Indomitable Lions.
After swiftly completing necessary administrative procedures, the delegation proceeded to the city center hotel, approximately fifteen kilometers away, where they will be stationed during their campaign in the tournament.
Today’s arrival saw 26 players stepping onto Ivorian soil, with the only absentee being André Onana, the formidable goalkeeper from Manchester United. Onana is expected to join the squad on January 14, just a day before the Lions engage in a pivotal match against Guinea.
In the spirit of meticulous preparation, Rigobert Song and his dedicated team have scheduled a light indoor training session later in the evening, laying the foundation for the Lions’ quest for glory in the upcoming African football extravaganza.
As the AFCON 2023 unfolds, the world eagerly anticipates the remarkable journey of the Indomitable Lions on the road to potential victory.
