Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi refuses to celebrate win over former club Mamelodi Sundowns

Head coach of Golden Arrows Manqoba Mngqithi says beating his former outfit Mamelodi Sundowns in the Premier League is nothing to relish.

Golden Arrows became the first South African Premiership side to beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the league since March, a streak that ran over 14 matches.

Speaking after the game, Mngqithi affirmed he botched to celebrate the win as a sign of respect to Sundown.

“As for beating Sundowns, I wouldn’t be looking at it as my former team, and it’d feel bad if I was to gloat about beating Sundowns because this team has done so much for me and my family,” Mngqithi told journalists after the game.

“I will always be grateful to this team. I never have feelings of thinking I am better or whatnot because I know this is a very powerful team,” Mngqithi added.

Golden Arrows will travel to face Richards Bay FC at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the South African Premier League.
