Malian goalkeeper Mayamé Sissoko set to complete Dubai United move

Malian goalkeeper Mayamé Sissoko is on the verge of joining Dubai United, with the deal expected to be made official in the coming days.

The 20-year-old, standing at 1.96m, has impressed Italian coach Andrea Pirlo, who is eager to add him to his squad.

Sissoko has already arrived in the United Arab Emirates, with only minor details left before his move is finalised.

Once confirmed, he will link up with fellow Malian Baidi Diakite at a club currently competing in the UAE second division.

Dubai United, who sit fourth in the standings with three points after the opening matchday, are targeting promotion back to the top flight.

Sissoko has been followed closely by several European sides in recent months, including Paris FC, VfB Stuttgart and Coventry City.

However, with first-team opportunities limited, he has chosen to continue his career in the Gulf region, where regular playing time is expected to aid his development.

Mayamé Sissoko’s profile greatly appeals to Andrea Pirlo, who would like to have him in his squad, as reported.

The young goalkeeper views the UAE championship as a potential springboard to progress further in world football.

Last season, Sissoko featured for the reserve side of US Orléans in France’s National 3 (fifth division) before being promoted to the performance group.

He made his senior debut in the Coupe de France, playing in a narrow 1-0 defeat to FC Liancourt Clermont.

With his transfer to Dubai United edging closer, Sissoko is preparing for a new challenge abroad — one that offers both valuable experience and the opportunity to establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper at professional level.

The deal, once finalised, will mark a significant step for the Malian youth international as he continues his pursuit of a breakthrough on the bigger stage.
