Eberechi Eze delighted after scoring his first Arsenal goal in Cup victory over Port Vale
Eberechi Eze could not hide his joy after finally scoring his first goal for Arsenal in their 2-0 win over Port Vale.
The midfielder said it was a moment he had been waiting for, one that felt like a breakthrough in his new chapter with the club.
“Very special,” Eze told Sky Sports after finding the net for Arsenal for the first time.
“I’ve been waiting a long time to score for this club, and the first one is very special.”
“It’s a very difficult place. It’s important that we scored the first goal and can move forward.”
“In recent weeks, we’ve seen what players do when they come off the bench. There’s a lot of depth, and he brings fresh energy, which is what we need.”
Eze opened the scoring after latching onto a clever assist from Myles Lewis-Skelly, finishing calmly into the bottom corner. Arsenal’s composure and attacking depth proved too much for Port Vale.
The Gunners will now turn their focus to the next round, where they host Brighton at the Emirates Stadium
