I’m dead – Algeria star Riyad Mahrez after Al Ahli’s defeat to Pyramids FC
Algeria international Riyad Mahrez has expressed sadness and exhaustion following Al Ahli’s defeat to Pyramids FC in the Intercontinental Cup.
The Saudi Arabia giants fell short to the Egyptian outfit in a high-stake clash on Tuesday. Congolese international, Fiston Mayele was unplayable, netting a sensational hat-trick to snatch a 3-1 victory for the Champions League holders.
Mahrez failed to offer anything noteworthy against the Egyptian team, as he suffered from tight marking throughout the 90 minutes.
“I swear I’m dead,” Mahrez told everyone as he left the media area, expressing the state of exhaustion that Yaisla and the official spokesman had described.
Having triumphed over Al Ahli, the Egyptian outfit will face Cruz Azul or the eventual winner of the Copa Libertadores on December 13 in the FIFA Challenger Cup.
The winner of the FIFA Challenger Cup will set up a date with Paris Saint Germain in the FIFA Continental Cup 2025.
