Nejc Gradisar finally found his rhythm again for Al Ahly as he broke a 37-day wait for a goal in the Egyptian Premier League.

The Slovenian forward delivered just three minutes into the clash against Haras El Hodoud at the Military College Stadium in Cairo on Tuesday evening, giving Al Ahly the perfect start in their Round 8 fixture.

It was Gradisar’s second goal in the league this season, following his effort against Pharco back on August 15 in Round 2. The strike brought a sense of relief for both the player and Al Ahly fans who have been eager to see him on the scoresheet again.

Haras El Hodoud, however, responded quickly. Mohamed Hamdy Zaki leveled in the 8th minute, but chose not to celebrate out of respect for his former club, Al Ahly, where he played from 2014 to 2016.

Zaki’s journey in Egyptian football has seen him represent several sides including Al Ittihad Alexandria, Ghazl El Mahalla and Aswan before moving to Haras El Hodoud this season.
