All eyes turn to Ivory Coast, the host nation, where the tournament is set to unfold from January 13 to February 11, 2024. While favorites emerge, a statistical powerhouse, the Opta supercomputer, has released its predictions, pointing towards Senegal as the probable winner, despite a formidable challenge from the host nation.

Originally scheduled for 2023, the AFCON was postponed to 2024 due to weather concerns, intensifying the anticipation surrounding the prestigious tournament.

The inaugural clash is set to unfold this Saturday, with Ivory Coast locking horns with Guinea-Bissau. Sunday’s lineup features compelling matchups such as Nigeria versus Equatorial Guinea, Egypt facing Mozambique, and Ghana taking on Cape Verde.

Amidst the buzz of teams completing their preparations and some already en route to Ivory Coast, the Opta supercomputer, renowned for amalgamating intricate player and team data, has positioned Senegal as the front-runner to clinch the AFCON 2023 title.

With a commanding 12.8% probability, Opta forecasts that the Lions of Teranga, led by stars like Sadio Mané, are well-positioned to script history by defending the CAF trophy.

Ivory Coast, the host nation, closely trails behind with a 12.1% chance, igniting hopes of securing victory on home soil and becoming the first host nation to achieve this feat since Egypt in 2006. The Elephants, displaying promising form in recent weeks, aspire to make a lasting impression in their quest for AFCON glory.

As the countdown to kick-off continues, football enthusiasts eagerly await to witness whether Senegal can secure back-to-back triumphs or if Ivory Coast will create a memorable chapter on their home turf, setting the stage for an electrifying tournament that promises captivating moments and unexpected twists.
