Ramadan Sobhi faces trial after forgery allegations surface
Ramadan Sobhi, the popular winger of Pyramids FC, has found himself in a difficult moment after being referred to trial on charges of forgery and fraud.
The South Giza Public Prosecution confirmed that the case is connected to an incident at an educational institute in the Abu El-Nomros area of Giza.
The footballer’s troubles began last May when authorities detained a man accused of taking exams on his behalf. That man alleged Sobhi encouraged him to sit for the tests in his place, an accusation Sobhi firmly denied.
The matter escalated after Sobhi returned to Cairo with his teammates following pre-season training in Turkey. Security officers stopped him at Cairo Airport, where he was taken into custody before being released on bail set at 100,000 Egyptian pounds.
With the case now officially moved to trial, Sobhi faces the possibility of imprisonment if the charges are proven true. For a player admired by fans for his flair on the pitch, this legal battle has cast a shadow over his career and future.
