Hamza Alaa has officially made his way back to Al Ahly after penning a new three-and-a-half-year contract with the Egyptian giants.

The goalkeeper, who once set his sights on a career in Portugal, expressed deep joy at returning home, eager to contribute alongside his teammates in the period ahead.

Walid Salah El-Din, the club’s football director, confirmed that all formalities were swiftly wrapped up to secure Alaa’s signature. The shot-stopper shared his happiness about the deal, making clear his commitment to giving his all for Al Ahly.

Alaa’s journey back was not without its challenges. He had initially turned down contract renewal talks, chasing an opportunity with Portuguese second-tier side Portimonense. But his dream move quickly hit a wall due to work permit issues, as he had traveled on a tourist visa. The setback forced him to reassess and ultimately return to Egypt.

Now back in Cairo, Alaa joins a competitive goalkeeping unit that includes Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, and Mohamed Siha, with hopes of proving his worth once again.
