France international of Cameroonian descent Kylian Mbappe claims Real Madrid can win games following victory over Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Champions League.

Mbappe, who joined Madrid from PSG in 2024 performed admirably as his outfit cruised to a hard-fought victory over the French outfit on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old scored twice from the spot to hand the Spanish giants victory at the Santiago Bernabéu. Despite being reduced to 10-man, Real Madrid managed to snatch victory on home turf against Marseille.

And according to Mbappe, the Spanish giants can win games even with nine players considering their qualities under new manager Xabi Alonso.

“I wasn’t surprised by Marseille’s performance, because I know the team well, I’ve watched all their matches this season, and I know the French league well,” Mbappé told French channel Canal Plus.

“We started the match well, we were compact and created chances, but we lacked efficiency. Then we went ahead due to a mistake, but we managed to equalize,” he added.

“We made a greater effort in the second half and played with a man down, but at the Bernabéu, we still have a chance to win with 10 or even 9 players,” Kylian continued.

“We got a second penalty, scored, and are happy with our start to the Champions League,” the French international said.

Mbappe has been impressive since the commencement of the 2025/26 football campaign, scoring five goals in five matches across competitions.
