Nigerian striker Victor Boniface marks Werder Bremen debut with assist in 4-0 triumph against Monchengladbach
Nigerian international Victor Boniface had an impactful debut for Werder Bremen on Sunday, providing a key assist for the team in their 4-0 hammering of Borussia Monchengladbach in the German Bundesliga.
The 24-year-old Super Eagles forward, who joined Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, was introduced in the 75th minute for Romano Schmid. Just six minutes later, he slipped through a precise pass to Justin Njinmah, who curled in Bremen’s fourth with a stunning outside-foot finish.
By the time Boniface entered the fray, Bremen had already stamped their dominance.
Samuel Mbangula’s thunderous opener and assist for Jens Stage put the visitors in control, before Schmid extended the lead from the spot in the 74th minute after Mbangula was fouled.
Boniface’s lively cameo not only sealed a morale-boosting first league win for Horst Steffen’s side but also offered Bremen fans a glimpse of his creative spark and attacking quality.
He will now be aiming to get on the scoresheet in his next outing for Werder Bremen.
