‘Kaizer Chiefs are the best club in the world’ – Khanyisa Mayo
South African forward Khanyisa Mayo has described his new club, Kaizer Chiefs, as the best club in the world.
According to him, signing for Soweto giants is a “dream come true” and one that excites him greatly.
The 27-year-old striker joins Amakhosi on a season-long loan from Algerian side CR Belouizdad and was officially welcomed by Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. at the club’s headquarters in Naturena on Friday.
Speaking to the club’s media, an excited Mayo said his return to South Africa was driven by one reason only.
“It is a dream come true. The only team I would come back for is Kaizer Chiefs. The club has a great history, and my father is part of that history. I wanted to play for the biggest team in the country, in Africa, and in the world, because Kaizer Chiefs is the biggest team in the world to me,” he said.
Mayo, son of club legend Patrick Mayo, now follows in his father’s footsteps by donning the famous Gold and Black jersey.
He joins an elite group of second-generation Amakhosi players and will be hoping to make a name for himself at the club.
