Portuguese club Santa Clara rejects $9.5m offer from Mamelodi Sundowns for Mateusinho
Portuguese club Santa Clara have turned down an offer from South African outfit Mamelodi Sundowns for the services of enterprising attacker Mateusinho.
The 27-year-old, who is currently on loan at Sport Recife in Brazil’s Serie A has attracted significant interest, with Sundowns pushing for his signature.
Per reports bin Brazil, the South African giants made an offer of €1.5 million (around $9.5 million) to snatch Mateusinho in an attempt to bolster their team.
However, the offer has been turned down by Santa Clara, as Recife have a purchase option should the player impress during his year-long loan, which the club considers more valuable than Sundowns’ proposal.
The 27-year-old has featured in eight matches for Recife, netting one goal and providing two assists.
Having seen their bid rejected, Sundowns is expected to submit an improved transfer offer in an attempt to capture the signature of Mateusinho.
